Well after some good news for Jack Aaron from the doctors at Children's Hospital we got to spend some time in the Big Easy, most importatnly eating at Felix's (turtle soup is a must when you visit New Orleans), we ate key lime pie at Buffett's Margaritaville and a fantastic supper at Oceana.

Walking down the Riverwalk we got to see firsthand how much damage the oil spill on the Mississippi caused the environmnet--417,000 gallons of oil were being cleaned up by the EPA and several enviormental cleanup companies. The entire Frech Quarter smelled like gasoline.

By the way if you have not heard the docs at Children's Hospital said that as of now the degree of kyphosis was much less than as first measured by the docs at UMC (about 22 degrees less) so there was no sugery or bracing indicated for Jack Aaron's back, (provided that he do the stretching and core strengthening excercises)--so we started the trip off on a lighter note than when we left Vidalia.
Arden nearly peed on the rug like a little excited puppy about riding on the airplane. She spent most of the time in the airport running to and fro on the moving belts crashing into weary travelers, country had definately come to town. Her excitement was nearly uncontainable when the plane began its intital take off as you can see.
Customs was dreadfully long once we arrived in Cancun, we thought it was Disney World and kept looking for the Fast Pass line. Once that catastrophe was over we were eager to begin the next catastrophe--driving in a foreign country. Do you know that none of the road signs are English here--what a crazy idea--We rented a jeep for the week and quickly drove the wrong way on a one way street right off the bat, and right in front of the Federalies who were very eager to show us the correct way away from the airport and away from them and the innocent citizens of Mexico.
Along with the absence of English road signs there is also an absence of street lights along the lovely Mexican highways. Following directions of rental car agent with severly broken English we transversed the pitch black countryside of Quintana Roo, hoping that we would find the hotel before a Chupacabra of mythical proportion of some other vile beast lept out of the blackness on the country back roads he had us go down. Nevertheless, we were able to drive straight to the hotel without a problem which proved to be very nice, right on the beach and had a very nice view of Cancun and the bay.
The hotel was a very modern design and had a pulsing night club in the lobby that was in full swing when we walked in--just the perfect welcome at midnight for some very weary travelers
Well that's if for today, I hope all is well with everyone. Its 8:40 on Saturday and we are heading to the beach before driving further down into Quintana Roo toward Belize to the city of Riveria Maya where we will be staying for the week.
